Women’s PADI Japan Retro Tee

What was started in a suburb of Chicago gained incredible momentum and went global in the late seventies. That’s why we’ve chosen to celebrate this pivotal moment in the sport of diving. One of the first PADI overseas office is featured symbolically with our Japan retro t-shirt. PADI’s globalization quickly fueled a world-wide surge in certifications. Inspired by “The Clockwork Orange” meets diving in Japan in the late seventies, we’re loving this throwback, organic cotton tee – and what it symbolizes – the point at which diving truly became a globally recognized – and adored - sport.

  • Retro diving design on back with a similar, smaller print on left chest
  • Slim fit, shorter sleeves, moderate scoop neck
  • Available in two colors
  • Eco-friendly; made of organic cotton
  • Part of our Vintage collection

100% Organic ring-spun sustainable, combed cotton

Part of PADI Gear’s Vintage Collection: 1979

PADI expands internationally in the late seventies! One of the first PADI overseas regional office was established in Tokyo, Japan in 1979. This evolved from the PADI Sensui Shido Kyokai (Diving Instruction Council) that was created to help translate materials and improve communication across languages. The Japan office would be one of the first of many worldwide developments as the PADI family quickly expanded internationally, while certifications skyrocketed.
